I have performed on Her Majesty’s stage for over 20 years with calisthenics. There is something so magical when performing on this stage and there is such an elegance and beauty in the theatre. Coming to Ballarat every year to perform on this stage is the highlight of my calisthenics year and I hope to be able to get back on the stage at Her Majesty’s one more time before I retire.

Wow - what can I say about Her Maj (which is generally my second home for the month of October)? I have been coming to Her Majesty's Theatre since I was one month old through my love of calisthenics and the RSSS comps. In that time I’ve been everywhere in the theatre and seen everything... I’ve been an audience member every year of my life (except the year we went to Civic Hall) for RSSS and local theatre shows, I’ve been a performer for 18 years for both school and calisthenics, front of house volunteer at both RSSS comps and local theatre shows, back stage volunteer, presenter of awards, teacher doing school concerts, had photos taken when I was a bridesmaid and been on tour, just to name a few. My fondest memories are coming to RSSS comps with my family each year and last year I was able to bring my baby daughter who was two months old. I loved performing on the awesome stage - especially remember winning, I’ve loved standing on the stage presenting an award in memory of my nan, I have loved seeing how many steps I can take following the green line to and... The entire theatre had to be evacuated on the busiest day, when the theatre was fully booked out.

Her Maj is a second home to me! I love this theatre! It needs to be saved so our future generations can continue to marvel at the performances but also marvel at the architecture.

Please save Her Maj

I grew up in Ballarat going to many shows and also danced on stage. Our daughter and granddaughters also have performed on stage. My father bought the old piano that was used for South Street - it's still going with our grandson playing now. Wonderful memories. We must preserve the grand old lady.

I remember going to see my very first show at Her Majesty's Theatre when I was about six years old. It was BLOC Music Theatre's production of 'The Wizard of Oz'. I had never seen anything quite like it. It was magic. It was the moment I discovered my passion for the theatre and performing. Little did I know that in 2012 and 2013, I would actually perform on that stage in two musicals with Curtain Call Performing Arts Studios then in 2015 with the Dance for a Cure concert. I have always loved coming to this theatre and watching the latest show. This theatre is important in the Ballarat community and it is time for us to help this beautiful theatre so that all people can enjoy the magic of live performance at Her Majesty's Theatre!

I received my 10 years' of service through the City of Ballarat working at Her Majesty's Theatre, starting as an usher then working my way up to Front of House manager. I have so many fabulous memories in this beautiful historic building! I have experienced hundreds and thousands of people enjoying themselves inside her walls for a range of different events. Ballarat sure is lucky to have her and we must protect her for future generations to enjoy.

What a Grand Old Lady she is. My first memory of going to Her Maj was to see "The King and I". I was about 10. I could not believe how talented everyone was and thought the stage took up the whole of Lydiard St. I was mesmerized. The closing of Her Maj feels similar to when Lake Wendouree ran dry. There is something missing. Our performance heart has gone quiet. Unfortunately due to her closure mostly for safety reasons, those of us involved in musical theatre and performance in Ballarat have had our schedules and plans drastically altered. She is such an institution that everyone is actually affected. She brings thousands of people to Ballarat (mostly through South St.) which in turn brings money for Ballarat to prosper. Businesses are hurting. We must get her back up and running. But there is no point doing another patch up job. Her Majesty's needs a total overhaul. If she is renovated properly, users will be safe and confident to be back using her to her full capacity for another 100 years. It's time - she needs help.

A wonderful and amazing part of our community. I have seen many performances - both professional and amateur, performed on stage and in the pit and have watched my children grow up and perform there. An asset not just to Ballarat, but an important part of performing arts in Australia.

Her Majesty's Theatre holds a lot of memories not just for me but for many people old and young. When I was a young girl my end of year dancing concert was on the stage of Her Maj. It was a beautiful and empowering experience, having the privilege to dance on the stage of such a beautiful and historical building, including constantly getting lost in the endless underground hallways of the dressing rooms. There is so much history in this building we would be at an enormous loss if we weren't to support the restructuring and renovation of Her Majesty's Theatre. Long live Her Maj!

I performed calisthenics for 30+ years at Her Majesty’s and the RSSS competition just didn’t feel the same when we had to perform at other venues sometimes. Now I love watching my beautiful daughters enjoy the stage each year themselves. My stomach still flips every time I drive down from Bakery Hill and see the Stage Door.

I have been performing on Her Majesty's stage for 20 years now and with many more performing years ahead of me, it makes me incredibly sad to think it won't be in this beautiful theatre again. There is the most magical feeling about Her Majesty's and I am hoping with all my might that she will be saved.
