Wow - what can I say about Her Maj (which is generally my second home for the month of October)? I have been coming to Her Majesty's Theatre since I was one month old through my love of calisthenics and the RSSS comps. In that time I’ve been everywhere in the theatre and seen everything... I’ve been an audience member every year of my life (except the year we went to Civic Hall) for RSSS and local theatre shows, I’ve been a performer for 18 years for both school and calisthenics, front of house volunteer at both RSSS comps and local theatre shows, back stage volunteer, presenter of awards, teacher doing school concerts, had photos taken when I was a bridesmaid and been on tour, just to name a few.
My fondest memories are coming to RSSS comps with my family each year and last year I was able to bring my baby daughter who was two months old. I loved performing on the awesome stage - especially remember winning, I’ve loved standing on the stage presenting an award in memory of my nan, I have loved seeing how many steps I can take following the green line to and from backstage to front of house each year, and I remember the day I was an audience member on the Champ senior day and Ballarat had an awful storm which resulted in the theatre leaking. The entire theatre had to be evacuated on the busiest day, when the theatre was fully booked out.
Her Maj is a second home to me! I love this theatre! It needs to be saved so our future generations can continue to marvel at the performances but also marvel at the architecture.
