I discovered Her Maj some 10 years ago whilst visiting Ballarat from North East Victoria. Fell absolutely, completely besotted and smitten by her architecture and her history , her charisma and her place in NATIONAL history and have returned at least tri-annually to Ballarat to sit wrapt and wrapped in her enthralling and beguiling arms ... whilst trying to focus on the performances ! A National Treasure to be preserved at all cost.

Her Majesty's Theatre in Ballarat holds so many memories for me, it is hard to put into words what she means. I have lost count of the number of times I have performed there with over the years before I left Ballarat. From junior ballet troupes , school concert bands and choirs to vocal solo entries, Royal South Street Competition was a huge event on our family's calendar for years, with my proudest moment being performing as a finalist in the Star for Opera. The excitement of waiting in the Green Room and the feeling of standing alone on such a grand and beautiful stage never leaves you. I also performed as part of many theatre productions for BLOC and the Begonia Festival and I always loved arriving at the back 'Stage Door' and wandering through the labyrinth of hallways past dressing rooms which have hosted many of the country's finest performers over time. What an honour and a privilege to visit with the ghosts of performers past - if only those walls could talk! What an honour and a privilege to visit with the ghosts of performers past - if only those walls could talk! Her Maj has been substantially restored once already since my days and it truly is a treasure to be held in the nation's interest - not only as a superb example of a working, traditional provincial theatre, when so many have been lost to progress and development, but also as a beacon to so many who aspire to the Performing Arts - somewhere you can get a real taste of what it is to perform on a real stage, with an ambience and atmosphere modern theatres can not possibly offer. I never visit Ballarat without at least a drive by and a wistful thought back to my own 'glory days' - such special memories. I sincerely wish for generations to come to have the same opportunities to perform, or just to spectate and savour the experience that is Her Majesty's Theatre, Ballarat. Save Her Maj.

So many special memories of competing at calisthenics competitions at Her Majesty’s for nearly 15 years. I always hoped I would get to create new memories of trips to ballarat with my daughter and hope I still can

I travel from Nhill to see performances at this beautiful old theatre. She is a part of history which needs to be preserved.

I moved to the country a few years ago and found what I missed most from my city days was live theatre. I was delighted to find Her Majesty's when Phantom of the Opera was staged. It was worth the hour drive from my small town. I've been to several shows since and, apart from the performance, I am so impressed by the old-world charm of the building. It lends a wonderful atmosphere to the night. It would be a great pity to lose this grand old lady. It's part of Ballarat's history and should be preserved.

Competitions from primary school, singing in the choir or verse speaking - the excitement of being in such a beautiful old theatre is a memory all kids should get the opportunity to make.

Even before I made my move to Ballarat I had been to see my niece perform at Her Majesty's theatre as part of a wonderful evening, celebrating dance and the performing arts, across all ages. In my first week of living in Ballarat, I had tickets to see The Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow, with friends from Melbourne, who were informed about its history by the knowledgeable ushers during intermission. I was so proud to show off my new home's iconic building, which brings such a wonderful sense of joy - just being seated within her decorative, glorious walls knowing that you are part of a long history of theatre goers. A history that not only invites professional performers across the wider range of the performing arts but also the local community to strut the stage.

Her Majesty’s must be saved for future generations. It has been a part of my life from rock concerts in ‘70s, performing and working on musicals for both Lyric Theatre Company and BLOC, to many plays, operas, ballets and other concerts in the subscription series. Also, there are people you meet and the friends meet along the way.

This glorious Ballarat institution needs to be preserved for our future generations. It is an absolute gem.

My Nan, Mum and I have all performed on this stage and I would love for my future children to do the same. It would be so heartbreaking to see it go.
